Monitor Arm
Frees desk space for mouse movement and lets you position your monitor at the exact optimal height and distance. Single or dual arm depending on your setup. Most clamp onto any desk edge.
Check Options →Your setup affects your performance more than you think. Monitor distance, mouse space, chair height, and cable management all impact comfort, focus, and reaction time. Here's how to optimize everything.
Your monitor should be at arm's length distance with the top of the screen at or slightly below eye level. For competitive FPS, many pros sit closer — about 20-24 inches — for better target visibility. The center of the screen should be at natural eye level so you're not tilting your neck up or down. A monitor arm gives you precise positioning control and frees up desk space for mouse movement.
Low-sensitivity FPS players need at least 16 inches of horizontal mouse space. Position your keyboard off-center to the left (for right-handed players) to create maximum mouse room on the right. Your mouse arm should rest naturally at your side with your elbow at roughly 90 degrees. Your forearm should be parallel to the desk surface.
Your desk height should allow your forearms to rest flat on the surface with your elbows at 90 degrees. Your feet should be flat on the floor with your thighs parallel to the ground. If your desk is too high, raise your chair and use a footrest. Getting this wrong causes shoulder tension and wrist strain that compounds over long sessions.
Clean cables aren't just aesthetic — a mouse cable catching on desk edge debris kills your aim. Use a mouse bungee for wired mice, velcro ties for cable bundling, and an under-desk tray to hide power strips. Wireless peripherals eliminate most cable problems but add charging management.
Avoid glare on your monitor by positioning it perpendicular to windows. Bias lighting — a light strip behind your monitor — reduces eye strain during dark-room gaming sessions by reducing the contrast between the bright screen and dark surroundings. A simple USB LED strip costs $15 and makes a noticeable difference in eye comfort during long sessions.
